If you are getting married, picking the perfect bridal gown is only one of the many major decisions you have to make. The endless number of details that go into ensuring your wedding is anything but perfect will frazzle your nerves more than any other occasion in your life.
A six-month countdown is recommended to make sure that despite all the stress and worries, you look as radiant and healthy as possible on your wedding day. Even if you only have several weeks left, it’s still possible for you to attain that “I’m the centre-of-attention” look.
Pure joy itself isn’t enough to set you aglow. Here’s how you can be transform yourself into the radiant bride who’ll the envy of every beholder:
- Stick to the basics: Dump unhealthy dietary habits, follow a balanced diet, drink up your daily quota of eight glasses of water and reduce alcohol consumption.
To glow with health and vitality, start getting a daily dose of fruits and vegetables.
- Follow a proper skincare routine. Start going for regular facial treatments early. The last thing you should do is to try out a new facial just before the wedding, and risk your skin breaking out or turning blotchy because of allergy problems.
The application of a weekly home-made honey mask will also help in perking up your complexion: Gently cleanse your face with warm water to open up the pores and remove surface impurities. Then smear a thin, even layer of honey on your face. Leave the “mask” on for 15 to 30 minutes. Gently rinse the mask off with warm water, and then cold water to close up the pores.
- If you are already keeping to an exercise routine, great! If not, act now to get your circulatory system going; start slow and aim for about 30 minutes of gentle exercises each day.
- Have a manicure and pedicure every two to three weeks before the wedding. Moisturise your hands daily and give your feet a soak in warm water for 10 minutes twice weekly. Avoid painting your nails prior to the wedding day to prevent the nails from yellowing. This will be important if you prefer using a natural-looking nail colour for your nails on the wedding day.
- Don’t go overboard with the make-up just because it’s “your big day”. If you don't normally wear much make-up, you shouldn’t walk down the aisle with a heavily-painted face. It won't seem natural, you won't feel comfortable and that will reflect in the pictures taken.
Less is more, so it’s best to stick with warm colours that will give you a fresh and healthy look. Get a good make-up artiste or learn make-up techniques, so that your skin doesn’t end up looking chalky, garish, dull and or deathly pale in the photographs. Avoid glitter, even if it’s trendy now, for you’ll regret it each time you look at your wedding album in the years to come.
The months ahead will no doubt be hectic, but try to take time off for yourself whenever possible, so you will outshine every thing and every one else on the most beautiful day of your life.
